The College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) is inviting members of the public across Ontario to share their perspectives in a new, ongoing survey focused on access to medical laboratory services, public awareness of regulatory bodies, and community representation within the healthcare system.

Why Your Feedback Matters

Medical laboratory technologists (MLTs) play a critical role in the delivery of healthcare in Ontario. Behind every diagnostic result, there’s a skilled professional ensuring accuracy, safety, and quality. While these professionals are regulated by the CMLTO, the College’s primary duty is to serve and protect the public interest—and we want to ensure that the public’s voice is heard and reflected in how we fulfill that mandate.

Who Should Complete the Survey?

This survey is specifically designed for the general public of Ontario. This includes:

• Patients who have accessed medical testing services
• Caregivers supporting loved ones
• Family members involved in healthcare journeys
• Community members and Ontario residents who interact with or rely on the province’s healthcare system

If you are a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), employer of MLTs, or a CMLTO Registrant, we kindly ask that you do not participate in this survey, as it is intended solely for public voices.

What the Survey Covers

The survey includes questions that will help us:

• Understand public access to medical laboratory services across the province
• Assess the public’s understanding of CMLTO’s role and how it relates to protecting the public interest
• Explore how the public defines “public interest” in the context of healthcare regulation
• Determine whether communities feel seen, heard, and represented in medical laboratory oversight
• Collect feedback on how regulatory processes impact public confidence in healthcare
