The work that Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) do has a significant impact on the Ontario public. Each day, MLTs perform nearly half a million laboratory tests in Ontario. Laboratory tests can include glucose tests to diagnose and monitor diabetes, a biopsy examination to check for cancer, or prenatal testing to detect genetic diseases. The College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) protects your right to safe, high-quality health care through self-regulation of the medical laboratory technology profession.
The Ontario public is a key partner group of the CMLTO. We encourage you to consult the following resources about the College, College processes, and the medical laboratory sector:
- Search the CMLTO Public Register for registered Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) or Voluntary Roster Affiliates
- About the CMLTO
- About the Medical Laboratory Sector
- CMLTO online complaints process, including access to the CMLTO online complaint form which can be used if you have issue with the service(s) you received from an MLT
