Health Human Resource Data Collection

The College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) collects information from registrants to help inform the government’s health human resource (HHR) planning at both the national and provincial levels. CMLTO collects and stores information in accordance with CMLTO’s Privacy Policy

The initiatives that support broader Health Human Resource planning for medical laboratory technology are:

  • The Medical Laboratory Technologist Database (MLTDB) is administered by the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI). The MLTDB collects information with the aim to: “provide standardized comparative data and reports on demographic, geographic, education and employment information for medical laboratory technologists in Canada.” For more information, follow this link on the CIHI website: Medical laboratory technologists | CIHI
  • The Health Professions Database (HPDB) is administered by the Ontario Ministry of Health (MOH) and HealthForceOntario. The database will: “provide standardized, consistent and comparable demographic, geographic, educational, and employment information on all of the regulated allied health professionals in Ontario.” For more information, follow this link to the HealthForceOntario website: HealthForceOntario | Home

CMLTO HEALTH HUMAN RESOURCE REPORTS

The Health Human Resource Report is an annual analysis of CMLTO registrant data and examines MLT practice, employment facility and status, as well as the provision of clinical education. The report is intended to help identify jurisdictional trends and to publicly share information about the profession.
