Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day honours the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities. It is a reminder of the history of residential schools and the ongoing impacts on Indigenous peoples across Canada.
At the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO), we recognize that public commemoration and reflection are essential components of the reconciliation process. Understanding this history and its continuing effects is not only a moral responsibility but also integral to our work in protecting the public.
On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reaffirm our commitment to learning, reflection, and action. Honouring the past helps us strengthen public trust and ensures that CMLTO continues to uphold its mandate of public protection in a way that respects and supports Indigenous communities.
