September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.
The day provides an opportunity to learn about the history and legacy of residential schools and their ongoing impacts on Indigenous peoples across Canada. It is also part of the broader ongoing process of reconciliation in Canada.
For health regulatory organizations such as the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO), the day provides an opportunity to consider the experiences of the communities they serve and the role of public protection in supporting safe and respectful health-care services.
