The CMLTO Quality Assurance Program is one of the major ways in which the College protects the public.

The program is designed to support the ongoing competence of Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) and ensure that Registrants are performing to best practice standards while serving the public interest effectively.

The Quality Assurance Committee (QAC), together with CMLTO staff, continuously develops and maintains the program to ensure it remains effective in supporting professional practice. The program is also regularly reviewed and evaluated to identify tools and resources that help strengthen MLT competence.

The Quality Assurance Program is an important component of the College’s public protection mandate. Through ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement, the program supports MLTs in maintaining the knowledge, skills, and judgment required for safe and effective practice.
