CMLTO ACADEMIC BOARD MEMBER
Pursuant to Section 7 (1) of the Medical Laboratory Technology Act, 1991, one Academic Board Member is appointed in accordance with the CMLTO By-Law from among Registrants who are faculty members of an educational institution in Ontario that is authorized to grant diplomas in medical laboratory sciences.

TERM OF OFFICE OF ACADEMIC BOARD MEMBER
Except in the case of a vacancy, the term of office of the Academic Board Member appointed to the Board of Directors is three (3) years which commences on January 1st of the calendar year following the appointment.
TIME OF APPOINTMENT
The regular appointment of an Academic Board Member to the Board of Directors will be made in September 2023, and in every third (3rd) calendar year thereafter.
Application Process
Candidates considering being appointed to the CMLTO Board of Directors as an Academic Member shall:
- Review the CMLTO By-Law / Appointment of Academic Member.
- Confirm their eligibility for appointment to the CMLTO Board of Directors as per CMLTO By-Law / Eligibility for Appointment.
- Complete, sign and return the 2026 CMLTO Academic Member Application Package to the Registrar and CEO by May 29, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. EDT.
As part of the Election Package, candidates are required to complete the CMLTO Board Competency and Leadership Characteristics Self-Assessment. This self-assessment confirms that candidates meet, or partially meet, the Board-approved competency-based eligibility criteria outlined in the CMLTO Board Competency and Leadership Characteristics Profile.
The self-assessment is intended to support reflection, transparency, and awareness of the competencies and leadership characteristics that contribute to effective Board service. Candidates are not expected to meet every competency at the time of nomination and may indicate their willingness to further develop any areas for growth if elected.
Candidates must also successfully complete the CMLTO Board of Directors Candidate Training relating to CMLTO’s governance approach and the duties, roles and responsibilities of Board Members, including participating in an interview with the Registrar and CEO.
The term of office for the Academic Member appointed to the Board of Directors will start on January 1, 2027, and end on December 31, 2029.
