In a post-SARS world, the public is far more aware of the important role the medical laboratory plays in detection and identification of disease. The CMLTO does not regulate the labs, but it does regulate the medical laboratory technologists (MLTs) working in the labs. They are on the front line of detection and early alerts.
The public should be sure that physicians and others who requisition tests on their behalf are using licensed laboratories and specimen collection centers that are in turn employing regulated MLTs.
Quality lab test results are yours to expect and demand.
