The Professional Portfolio helps members maintain excellence in the profession by promoting ongoing self-reflection and development. It is mandatory for every Practising member of the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario to maintain a Professional Portfolio. Random audits of portfolios are conducted throughout the year.

The Professional Portfolio was reviewed and revised in 2008. Effective January 1, 2009, Practising members must use the January 2009 Version 3.0 Professional Portfolio.

Some of the major changes are:

  • A one-year cycle (previously a two-year cycle)
  • A minimum of 30 hours of professional enhancement/continuing education each year (previously 60 hours over two years)
  • The addition of a new section on learning goals
  • The addition of a new section on professional development activities
  • The deletion of options B and C
