When do I file a complaint concerning a MLT working in a Laboratory or Specimen Collection Centre?

If you experience a problem with the care provided to you by a Medical Laboratory Technologist, please inform the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists immediately. Please contact us immediately if you feel that the service you received from a medical laboratory technologist is inappropriate. Please ensure you include the following information in your initial communication to our organization:

  • The name (first and last) of the person you wish to complain about. If you do not know the name of the person and you are complaining about a laboratory, please provide as much detail and identifying information as possible;
  • A description of your concern (provide as much detail as possible);
  • The date(s) the event(s) occurred;
  • The name of any hospital or institution involved;
  • The name, address and phone number of any other person who may have information pertaining to your concern and;
  • Copies of any relevant documents you have relating to your complaint.
If you are unsure of whether or not you should complain on a particular issue, contact us anyway. Our staff will be pleased to advise you appropriately.
