Who We Are / What We Do

The College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (CMLTO) is proud to make a difference in the quality of the services offered by technologists in laboratories in urban and rural communities throughout Ontario.

We are here to help make the health system the best that it can be in Ontario.

We serve over 8000 members and the people of Ontario every day through this internet site, through our toll-free line (1-800-323-9672) and through our e-mail services.

We serve people by listening to their issues and providing them with information or sources for information that can help them solve laboratory problems.

We are accountable, accessible and responsive to our members and to the citizens of Ontario.

In Ontario, over 200,000 healthcare professionals, like us, belong to "Colleges". While we are called a "college" we are not a teaching institution. Instead we focus our resources on protecting you, a health care user, from harm when your doctor uses the services of a regulated laboratory in Ontario.

We do this through a variety of means such as ensuring all of our members know what is expected of them on a day to day basis in terms of how they do your laboratory tests. We are also here to deal with any issues that arise in a members ability to offer you the highest quality of care.

Ultimately, our checks and balances help to ensure that even the simple tests we do in laboratories, like testing your cholesterol levels, are done appropriately.

We protect the health and safety of Ontario's citizens through continuous improvement of the quality of services provided by our members.
